Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, met Olympian Jonathan Edwards at the House of Commons recently to discuss how his constituency can benefit from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Andrew Miller said:
“The session was an opportunity for MPs and Peers to meet the London 2012 Organising Committee that stages the Games, the Olympic Delivery Authority that builds the venues, and the North West 2012 teams working on the ground to ensure the benefits are spread across the region.
“Overall, the North West of England looks set to play an integral role in the years leading up to the Games, and will be left with a lasting sporting and commercial legacy well beyond 2012. I will be working closely with all those concerned as we build towards 2012 to ensure that the region maximise the benefits presented by the Games - before, during, and for many years to come.
“I also took the opportunity to brief both officials and Jonathan Edwards about the exciting initiative surrounding the proposed sports village at Stanney and received very welcome support for the project.”
