Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, today welcomed the publication of the regulations that bring into effect the Agency Workers Directive, which will provide greater equality to temporary and agency workers.
Mr Miller said:
“This has been a long and difficult path but I am delighted that real progress has now been made both for thousands of agency workers and the many good employers who are being undercut by rogues.
“My research, which led me to promote a Private Member’s Bill last year, showed up practices that these regulations will outlaw when they come into force. Although I would have liked to have seen immediate implementation of the regulations I recognise the need to take into account the current economic climate; but, having said that, I call upon all employers to ensure that they are acting within the spirit of these regulations straight away.
“I will continue to monitor progress in this field to ensure that all areas of work apply the principles of fairness encompassed in these regulations.”
